Please DON'T kill this insect (Stenopelmatus)

Have you seen it in your yard? It is Stenopelmatus.

Please Don't kill this insect.

Today I would like to tell you a little about this insect.

It is a flightless insect. They belong to Phylum Arthropoda. Many people know it as a potato bug, Jerusalem cricket, Skull insect, Childface, or Mother of Scorpion. People get scared when they saw these insects and want to kill them.

The reality is that these insects are running from us.

It is not a spider nor scorpion or cricket, and it is NON-POISONOUS. The sole weapon is its mandibles. With them, Stenopelmatus feed off the organic waste that is found next to garden plants.

They play a very important role in the environment and surroundings because they help plant growth, thanks to removing the earth and thus allowing soil oxygenation.

Its life span is a year. If you find it at night, don't kill it. They just looking for their food and a safe place to hide to protect themselves.
